CMI Hino, part of the CMV Group, celebrated the official opening of their redeveloped dealership at Regency Park. Opened by Mayor of Port Adelaide Enfield, Ms Fiona Barr, the new dealership marks a commitment by CMI Hino to Regency Park, which continues to grow as a vibrant commercial and light industrial precinct. Originally established in 1984 as a dedicated dealership for Hino trucks, prior to which the site traded as CMV Truckland, an authorised Hino Dealer for 35 years CMI Hino is now the longest serving Hino dealer in Australia.

Conducting the opening, Ms Barr commented, "CMI Hino has made a valuable contribution to Port Adelaide Enfield over the last 21 years and I'm delighted that they continue to invest and create employment in our council area." CMI Hino currently employs 32 people including vehicle sales staff, motor vehicle technicians and administration personnel.  CMI Hino is also a strong supporter of trainees and recently increased its apprenticeship intake through their fast-track apprenticeship program.  The fast-track apprenticeship program is run in conjunction with O'Halloran Hill TAFE and allows apprentices meeting specific criteria to complete their training in just 3 years.

CMI Hino Dealer Principal Mr Jim Reid said, "CMI Hino has built an enviable reputation because of our commitment to service and the quality of the Hino product." "As a part of the CMV Group, our culture is service and customer orientated through the sales, service and parts departments.  The redevelopment has allowed us to integrate these services under one roof, providing more convenience for our customers."  The new dealership now incorporates a central reception area, expansive office space, boardroom, 10 service bays, customer waiting room and parts department.

CMI Hino's redevelopment has been timed with Hino's expansion of their product range which sees the introduction of the Hino Heavy duty truck range of 450 horse power plus and further expansion of the successful Hino Dutro light duty range of trucks which will offer environmentally friendly diesel Electric Hybrid models. The company has become an integral part of the community at Regency Park and will continue provide Sales Parts and Service of Hino Trucks and Buses to satisfy any business needs.

CMI Hino has also expanded its operations into Victoria, where it runs a Hino dealership at Laverton.

August 2004: CMI Hino on the road to success with the Department of Transport

CMI Hino and the Department of Transport have formed a new partnership for road maintenance in South Australia in which a brand new range of Hino trucks have been added to the Transport fleet. The deal includes 85 trucks, nearly all made in SA, with a total contract value of $9 million.

Located at Regency Park, CMI Hino is a one-stop destination for Hino products and services including new and used truck sales, parts, accessories, scheduled servicing and repairs. The location employs more than 30 staff already, but this new agreement will ensure new employment opportunities at CMI Hino in the future.

The Hino range of products are known for their durability, reliability and safety – just some of the reasons they were chosen for this job. The Range Pro series of trucks feature an efficient low-emission engine, comfortable cabin and reinforced suspension for a smooth drive. The light and medium class Dutro trucks are designed for strength and cabin comfort with an unprecedented level of safety.

As part of the new agreement, CMI Hino has established a state-wide support network for the Department of Transport trucks. This includes a mobile service unit plus access to service and repair specialists in rural areas. Other suppliers in the truck industry, such as the body building specialists, also stand to benefit from this new agreement with increased activity and more funds spent locally.
